We are a small group of people, some with intellectual disabilities, others without, who have decided to live together as a community. Our community is still young; it includes only one house.
Recently, we welcomed André, a kind and reserved man. We certainly hope that he will fit well in our collective life and, especially, that he will feel at home here. We asked him how long it would take for this house to become his home and what signs would tell us that he felt this way. After several months, we had our reply. André had copied the word “L’Arche” and our logo on a piece of paper, which he glued to an empty coffee can. He then explained to us that in this can he was going to collect money to open a second L'Arche home. For us, this act was not only confirmation that André had made L'Arche his home, but that he also dreamed of a L’Arche home for many other people. André is never happier than when people visit the house or when his companions contribute to his fundraising campaign!
